The Next Chapter

I want the story of my life to be a God-adventure; a God-story that is filled with God-chapters.
God, How do You Want to Frame My Life?
Each year I seek God for his direction and vision for my life. I ask how HE wants to frame my life and how I can follow through with obedience.
I kicked off the year working through The Next Chapter Masterclass with a group of women who were ready to move into what God is writing in their story. WOW! The course was a powerful exchange of learning, revelation, and direction.
During this Masterclass we studied the story of the children of Israel's next chapter of stepping into the Promised Land.
We learned not to respond to God's invitation for our next chapter like the 10 spies who gave a negative report. They couldn't see past the giants in the land, didn't believe God's promises, and died in the wilderness.
We want to move into all God has for us like Joshua and a Caleb did; with courage and strength!
During this course we also asked God to frame our next season of life:
- We studied Ephesians 2:10 and asked for a personal revelation of how God sees us and his purposes for our life.
- We asked for One Word and One Verse that describes how God wants to frame our next chapter.
- We wrote a personal manifesto; putting together all the pieces we were learning and making a proclamation of faith.
My One Word and Verse for this Next Chapter
Then the Lord said to me, “Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others. This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed." Habakkuk 2:2-3 NLT
God loves to share vision and purpose with us. He does not hide his direction for our life, but as we seek him he will clearly point the way.
The One Word (actually a phrase) that God spoke to me for this next chapter of my life is Keep in Step with the Spirit.
I have so many ideas running through my head all of the time: writing ideas, coaching dreams, imaginative thoughts, goals and plans. But especially this year God is saying: don't move ahead of me Becky! Bring everything to me and follow my leadership, especially in timing.
I don't want this word from God to get lost, ignored, or forgotten like a typical new year's resolution does in my life. As long as God is writing this particular chapter of my story, I want to stay centered in how and where he is leading me.
One way I am keeping this word in front of me is by making it visible like Habakkuk writes.
And then God answered: “Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. (Habakkuk 2:2 MSG)
I have my word and verse on my desktop and on a card in my Bible.
The One Verse that I am going to memorize that will enhance Keeping in Step with the Spirit is:
Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. Psalm 25:4-5 NLT
To help me follow through with obedience to this One Word and Verse, I am making these declarations and commitments:
- I am going to purposefully be quiet so I can listen.
- I will block out distractions as I entwine my heart with God; lingering.
- I will seek God with writing decisions and not chase every idea.
- I will give my very best to accomplish the good works God has called me to do.
- I will align my life, schedule, commitments, and resources to do God's will.
- I am focused, concentrated, and determined.
- The Holy Spirit is ready to empower me to step in the Next Chapter!
